To object to the proposed application (No. P17/0916) for dropped Kerb on the highway by neighbours 117. In order to plan for a new car parking space at the front of the property, by knocking down the Old Victorian Wall, which form the unique and uniformed appearance of the 6 terraced houses in Oldswinford, Old Quarter part of Stourbridge.
Residents at 111, 113, 115, 119 and 121 of Mount Terrace, Hagley Road, have objected to the application plan.
We feel the following problems will occur:
1/ That the access is across a pedestrian footpath used in direct routes to schools for young children, families and the elderly.
2/ That the resulting permission will enable the further planned work which indicates the removal of a supporting wall on the public path, the excavation of the front garden of the property adjacent to our house to make way for a planned car parking space. This will cause further dangerous access across a public pavement with cars entering and reversing in restricted view across the path and onto oncoming traffic on a very busy road.
3/ The planned excavation will result in the need for supporting walls, which may undermine the structural integrity of the foundations of 117, which is terraced to our property at 115 and owners of 119 with the foundations of the front gardens also being linked.
4/ It will cause permanent unsightly change to a series of properties of huge architectural and historical significance to Oldswinford, as Mount Terrace forms a unique terrace of 6 Victorian houses dating from 1875. These are unique to Stourbridge and the original architect features of the front walls are of a unique and uniform quality. Granting permission to permanently dismantle and excavate these will impact on the historic value and will ultimately reduce the property value for the neighbouring houses.
5/ 115 have re-lanscaped their garden/drive at the rear of the properties, to accommodate two vehicles, as joining neighbours have also done, 113 & 111 who have more than one car. There is ample parking at the rear of the houses, and we feel that there is no need for front parking, which we believe will cause problems on a heavy traffic main road. It is much easier and simple for 117 to re-landscape their current drive for another large car. The previous owner managed to park his Land Rover and another car in his drive.
